Get Online Week 23-29 March

This week is Get Online Week! All across Europe, telecentres, libraries, community centres and non-for profits come together to showcase their work in helping people participate more actively in the digital society and improve their digital skills.

This year, Get Online Week has two overall and main themes: digital empowerment and digital inclusion. Digital empowerment refers to the skills gap, employment opportunities and online participation. Digital inclusion is about reminding society that within the European Union, 38% of disadvantaged populations have no digital skills at all. Get Online Week will place a place a particular emphasis on lower-educated, unemployed, elderly, retired and inactive citizens discovering and making the most of digital technology.

Since Get Online Week was launched in 2010, over 700,000 people have gotten involved in the campaign. The campaign is organised by eSkills for Jobs partner Telecentre Europe, and is supported by both eSkills for Jobs and Microsoft, one of the stakeholders of the eSkills for Jobs initiative.

Get Online Week will have activities taking place across 25 countries across Europe; to discover activities taking place near you, and how you can get involved, go to getonlineweek.eu/gow-in-your-country
